Facebook Built a Giant Internet Drone

With its mission to “Connect everybody in the world”, Facebook just launched a gigantic solar-powered drone, beaming broadband internet to rural and hard-to-reach areas.

Named “Aquila”, the solar-drone can deliver data speed up to 10 GB per second via its laser light. People living in a 80-Km radius on the ground could get access to this broadband.

The drone weighs 36 Kg and has the wingspan as Boeing 737, but covered with solar cells made of light carbon fiber. This new innovation is expected to help 10% of world population that lacks the necessary infrastructure to get online.
